CTET eligibility criteria 2023
The CTET exam is conducted at two levels that is Primary level and Junior (Middle) level, and each level has specific eligibility criteria. CTET Paper I for the primary level and CTET Paper II for junior (middle) level eligibility criteria are described below.
CTET eligibility for primary level teachers (Class I To V)
- graduation and a 2-year diploma in elementary education (by whatever name known). (OR)
- at least 50% marks either in graduation or in post-graduation and B.Ed. (OR)
- graduation with at least 45% marks and a 1-year bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition norms and procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard. (OR)
- senior secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year bachelor’s degree in elementary education (B.El.Ed). (OR)
- senior secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. (OR)
- graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year bachelor in education (B.Ed) (special education). (OR)
- post-graduation with a minimum 55% mark or equivalent grade and 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed.
Important Notice For B.Ed Degree Candidates (Only For Primary Level)
Candidates Who Have Obtained The B.Ed Degree From Any NCTE-Recognized Institution Need To (Mandatorily) Undergo A 6-Month Bridge Course In Elementary Education Recognized By The National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE) Within 2-Year After Being Appointed As A Primary Teacher.
Note: The Notice Of The Bridge Course Is Being Told Only For Information, It Will Be Needed When You Become A Teacher By Passing The CTET/UP TET, Super TET Exam, Interview, And Other Criteria.
CTET eligibility for junior Level Teachers (Class VI To VIII)
- senior secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year bachelor’s degree in elementary education (B.El.Ed). (OR)
- Senior Secondary (Or Its Equivalent) Exam With Minimum 50% Marks And Passed Or Appearing In The Final Year Of 4-Year B.A/B.Sc.Ed Or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. (OR)
- graduation with a 2-year diploma in elementary education (by whatever name known). (OR)
- Graduation With Minimum 50% Marks And Passed Or Appearing In 1-Year Bachelor In Education(B.Ed). (OR)
- Graduation With A Minimum Of 45% Mark And Passing Or Appearing In 1-Year Bachelor In Education(B.Ed) Per The Rules And Norms Of NCTE. (OR)
- Graduation With Minimum 50% Marks And Passed Or Appearing In 1-Year B.Ed In Special Education. (OR)
