The UPSC CDS examination features a two-tier process. The first tier includes a written examination with papers in English, General Knowledge, and Mathematics (based on the chosen academy).

The second tier involves an SSB interview assessing personality and suitability, followed by a medical examination. Successful candidates are admitted to military academies.
